Q: What kind of duty rates are supported?
A:
Eurora can assign both Ad Valorem rates (which means they’re a percentage of the products' value) for all the supported countries and compound duty rates (which are a combination of both percentage and fixed amount) for the EU, US, UK, and CA.
Q: Does Eurora support preferential or Most Favoured Nation (MFN) rates?
A:
Eurora currently supports MFN rates, which are essentially the rates that countries agree to upon joining the World Trade Organization. However, we are actively working on adding support for preferential rates, which are lower rates negotiated between countries in certain trade agreements. We understand that our customers have different needs and preferences when it comes to duty rates, and we are planning to prioritize our development efforts accordingly. While we cannot guarantee a specific timeline for the availability of preferential rates, we are committed to continuously improving our duty and tax calculator to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Q: Why can’t I get a duty & tax amounts? What have I done wrong?
A:
The most likely culprit is usually the product description. Make sure the product description is sufficient to assign an HS-code. If in doubt, feel free to test out Eurora’s Service Portal and the HS-code allocation service therein.
Q: Should I use the HS-code of destination country or departure country?
A:
Duties and taxes are assigned by the destination country’s customs offices, therefore destination (importing) country’s HS-codes are required.
